40 QUESTIONS WITH CACHET: 2021 ROUNDUP

2021 marks Cachet’s 40th year in the homebuilding industry. To commemorate our four decades as a developer and builder of custom homes and master-planned communities, we introduced a 40 Questions with Cachet feature to our blog. The series provided insight into our history, core values, customer experience, industry expertise, the future of Cachet and more. With the year now coming to a close, this blog — our final series installment — will round up some of our favourite questions and answers that we’ve explored throughout the year.

The entire Cachet team is incredibly grateful to our homeowners for continuing to place their trust in us; it remains our sincerest privilege to build your dream home. We look forward to many more years of creating master-planned communities for active families across Southern Ontario.

Where did the name Cachet come from?

Initially, as an exclusive builder of custom estates, we operated under the name A. Auciello and Son Custom Homes. As we continued to build in the Cachet Country Club community, we became known as “The Cachet Builder.”

After deciding to expand the business, it was only fitting that we switched from our family name to Cachet, officially adopting the moniker that already carried considerable recognition for us.

How has Cachet grown since its inception?

In our early years, we crafted exclusive custom homes on estate lots. Cachet quickly expanded to become a builder of estate communities, and later, evolved into an award-winning developer and builder of master-planned communities with a wide variety of home styles and sizes. Although we have grown considerably in the last 40 years, our purpose has remained unchanged: Cachet is dedicated to enriching the lives of families by building visionary communities they can be proud to call home.

How do you give back to the communities you build in?

At Cachet, our commitment to our communities is two-fold.

Our first objective is to ensure that the new homes we build in established neighbourhoods are designed to seamlessly blend in with the existing architecture and to enhance the overall community. Cachet has always shown the utmost respect for the neighbourhoods in which we build, striving to be as sensitive to the interests of existing communities as possible. We seek to leave behind a development that will be embraced by the town, as we believe this is how communities truly flourish.

Our second objective is to do our best to contribute to community causes in the towns and neighbourhoods we build in. For example, in Grand Valley, we donated to build the community water park; in Hamilton, we gave to the regional food bank; in Cambridge, we contributed to Rare, an urban land trust and environmental institute dedicated to the preservation and protection of almost a thousand acres of highly sensitive lands in the Waterloo region; in Thornhill, we supported Hesperus Village, a seniors’ affordable housing community, just to name a few. We care deeply about our homeowners and the strength of their neighbourhoods, understanding that thriving families live in thriving communities.

What do you most want homeowners to know about being a builder?

Today’s consumer expects ultimate precision in the products and services that they purchase. Unlike automobiles or electronic goods, homes are not factory manufactured. They are built by and for real people, and as such, variances will occasionally occur. What’s important is that the homebuilder stands behind his or her product and has the integrity needed to correct any issues that may arise. This is why we are so focused on ensuring our quality assurance plans and after-care service programs are excellent. We aspire to maintain the highest degree of customer service and satisfaction—just as we have done for over 40 years.

What sets Cachet apart from other builders?

Family is at the heart of what we do. At Cachet, our team relentlessly strives to build visionary communities that families can be proud to call home. Our custom-building background has afforded us years of valuable insight into the unique needs of homebuyers, allowing us to apply the same knowledge and care to building master-planned communities as we once did to crafting custom estates. Cachet homes and communities are developed, designed, and built with your happiness in mind.

We carefully select beautiful features and finishes and optimize layouts to enhance functionality. Our communities prioritize connectivity, walkability, and access to the natural amenities and modern conveniences your family needs to thrive. Cachet understands that purchasing a home is both an economical and emotional investment—and we respect the trust our homeowners place in us by honouring our commitments, continually improving to exceed their expectations, and offering a customer experience that supports them every step of the way.

In the past 40 years, what was your most memorable or touching homeowner moment?

A very memorable moment was the first time we had a repeat customer who shared with us how important it was for her to be able to purchase another Cachet home. This has happened many times over the years and it is a privilege and honour to be such an integral part of our purchasers’ lives.

What brings you the most joy when handing over the keys to a new home?

We derive joy from delivering a home that we know will stand the test of time and from seeing the joy on families’ faces when they walk into their finished home for the first time. We never forget that every home we build is more than just a place of shelter; it’s a place where families will live, grow, celebrate, and make lasting memories.

Where do you see Cachet in another 40 years?

Cachet will remain committed to our mission of building visionary communities that families can be proud to call home. We will continue to operate as a best-in-class, fully-integrated developer and homebuilder with the intention of becoming an integral part of Ontario’s growth story. Alongside growing our dedicated team of individuals that share our core principles and values, we’ll also continue to honour the family legacy that our company was built upon.
