6 Activities to Make the Most of Family Day 2024

For families across the province, Family Day is an opportunity to celebrate the love, joy, and support that our families bring to our lives, and to spend time together creating lasting memories. To help you make the most of this special holiday, we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite events, attractions, and things to do around our Cachet communities. Read on to discover how you can make the most of Family Day this year.

Get Crafty at the Hamilton Winterfest Family Day Extravaganza

Treat your children to a day they’ll never forget at the Family Day Extravaganza, with the Hamilton Winterfest organization, Art Gallery of Hamilton, and Hamilton Public Library all joining together for a celebration like no other. Close to Cachet Binbrook and Mount Hope by Cachet, the Family Day Extravaganza promises a day full of live music, interactive art and craft-making stations, family dance and yoga classes, face painting, and plenty of delicious food and drink options.

Step Back in Time at the Jurassic World Exhibition

Stomp over to this one-of-a-kind attraction: the Jurassic World Exhibition is an immersive experience that brings scenes – and of course, dinosaurs – from the beloved film franchise to life. Board the ferry to Isla Nublar, get up close to raptors, and come face-to-face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the T. Rex Kingdom.

Build Something Amazing at Family STEAM Day

If your kids can’t get enough of the sciences, then be sure to visit the University of Waterloo campus for a free Family STEAM Day (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). Located under an hour from Avon Park and Westwood Village, families can drop by between 10am and 3pm to partake in a host of fun STEAM activities, including robot competitions, designing and launching your own rocket, racing robotic self-driving cars, and learning more about quantum physics.

Soak Up Elliott Tree Farm’s Maple Syrup Experience

Located just 15 minutes from Erin Glen, Elliott Tree Farm’s annual maple syrup experience kicks off on Family Day weekend with the promise of  a sweet time. Enjoy a pancake brunch before heading out to explore their trails, see maple syrup being made firsthand, taste taffy over snow, and so much more.

Have Fun at The Factory

Housed in an old Kellogg’s facility, The Factory in London is Canada’s biggest indoor family entertainment center – and it’s located under an hour from Avon Park in Stratford and our new community in Woodstock, Heartwood. Featuring a high ropes course, trampoline park, arcade, zip lines, and even a virtual reality experience, there’s fun to be had for the whole family. Children under six can also enjoy independent play at The Factory’s large indoor playground

Bonus: Have Fun Close to Home by Going Skating or Tobogganing, or Building a Snowman

There’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had close to home: each of our communities is home to ample green space that, during the winter months, makes the perfect setting for building a snowman or tobogganing down a small hill. Local skating rinks – both indoor and outdoor – are also located conveniently close to each of our communities; discover a few of our favourites here.
