40 Questions With Cachet: The New Home Journey

2021 marks Cachet’s 40th year in the home building industry. To commemorate our four decades as a developer and builder of custom homes and master-planned communities, we are excited to introduce a new feature to our blog, 40 Questions with Cachet. This series is designed to give you a special behind-the-scenes glance into the company we are so proud to call home. Over the coming months, we hope that our answers provide you with ample insight into our history, core values, customer experience, industry expertise, the future of Cachet, and more.

The entire Cachet team is incredibly grateful to our homeowners for continuing to place their trust in us — it remains our sincerest privilege to build your dream home. We look forward to many more years of creating master-planned communities for active families across Southern Ontario.

AFTER SOMEONE BUYS A CACHET HOME, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS IN THE HOMEOWNER JOURNEY?

While every home purchase is made under unique circumstances, all Cachet homeowners go through a similar journey.  Prior to the commencement of construction, homeowners are invited to the Cachet Design Studio for their interior selections appointment. Families meet with one of our dedicated design studio specialists to choose from a wide range of features and finishes—this is where their new house becomes their dream home. The next phase is the construction of their home. Cachet keeps our homeowners informed every step of the way, providing regular construction updates on the status of each new community throughout the building stages. Before occupancy, homeowners meet with their customer care representative for a pre-delivery inspection of their new home, as per TARION guidelines. Once our homeowners move in, Cachet has an after-care program during the first year of ownership to ensure any issues are serviced immediately. We are committed to providing each of our homeowners with an exceptional new home buying experience from start to finish.

HOW INVOLVED IS THE HOMEBUYER IN THE INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS WITH CACHET?

Cachet homebuyers are very involved in the interior selections process. Each one of our communities offers different opportunities for customization, but all homeowners choose from an array of carefully selected standard and optional features and finishes in our studio with the expert knowledge and guidance of our design specialists. The entire Cachet team is passionate about building dream homes for our homeowners. Bringing each purchaser’s new home vision to reality is what we strive to do every day.

WHAT DO YOU MOST WANT HOMEOWNERS TO KNOW ABOUT BEING A BUILDER?

Today’s consumer expects ultimate precision in the products and services that they purchase. Unlike automobiles or electronic goods, homes are not factory manufactured. They are built by and for real people, and as such, variances will occasionally occur. What’s important is that the homebuilder stands behind his or her product and has the integrity needed to correct any issues that may arise. This is why we are so focused on ensuring our quality assurance plans and after-care service programs are excellent. We aspire to maintain the highest degree of customer service and satisfaction—just as we have done for over 40 years.

WHAT’S SOME ADVICE CACHET WOULD GIVE TO POTENTIAL HOMEOWNERS LOOKING TO PURCHASE A NEW HOME?

First, consider your budget and the price range you are comfortable with. Next, identify what your family’s needs are and what they may be in the future—this will help you to navigate the myriad home designs and floor plans that will be offered to you. Do you need three or four bedrooms? One or two garages? What is essential for you right now and how might your family grow into your home in the next five years? Finally, identify the communities that you want to live in. Visit the neighbourhoods that interest you and get to know the local culture, amenities, schools, etc. You want to ensure your new community offers convenient access to everything your family needs to live well.

A couple of extra tips we always like to share with potential homebuyers are:

1. Buy a home that’s slightly bigger than you think you need right now.

It’s much easier to grow into your home than to quickly grow out of it and need to shop for something new sooner than you would have expected. Extra space is always beneficial.

2. Remember curb appeal.

Try not to get seduced by fancy interior features that entice you to buy an otherwise unattractively designed home. At Cachet, we are focused on designing architecturally distinct and beautiful homes—both inside and out.

3. Select a builder with a history of integrity.

Trusting that your builder will honour his or her commitments and deliver an exceptional product and service is of the utmost importance when purchasing a new home.
